One more week until the end of Term 3. We are nearly into the last term of our 4th year as a school.
Art Show
What a wonderful Art Show we had last week. Students were able to showcase their amazing work to their families and the wider community. It was a really great example of how people can be pleasantly surprised by the quality of work that can be produced by primary-aged children. We know what is possible, but it is always with great pleasure that we get to share such amazing work with our community. Some students excel in this space, who are not as connected with other areas of the curriculum. It can be their time to shine. We thank all the families who attended and especially to those who purchased the class art work in our silent auctions. I was talking to one family who said that it is their mission to purchase the art work that their child is part of producing at each of these events to hopefully keep on display at home as a memory of their time at primary school. I love that sentiment! A huge thank you to Mrs Belovitch and Mrs Shoebridge for their coordination of this event and for guiding our students through the creative process. A huge thanks to Renee Jones and Ms Falls for their contributions, as well as all other staff who helped with the event. A huge congrats to DJ Arsh who is a Year 6 student, who gave us the music on the night. Thank you also to Mr Pody for being the MC. A huge thank you to our parent helpers Carly Busuttil and Laura Hachem for assisting with getting everything ready. We look forward to our bigger and better Art Show in 2028. Next year will be our 2nd ever Production.
2027 enrolments and transitions
If you have a child who will be starting at our school in 2027 and you are yet to enrol them, we would ask that you do this asap. We will be starting our transition program in Term 4 and it would be highly beneficial for all students starting with us next year to attend all sessions. Only those who are enrolled can participate. We would also ask that if you have enrolled at both our school and you’ve been accepted at St Pedro Pio that you decide where you will be sending your child and inform both schools of your intentions.
Farewell
This week we say goodbye to Eliza Malapit who has resigned her position as she is moving away from this area. We also say goodbye to Stacey Viera-Lay who has accepted a role closer to home. We thank them for their time with us and wish them all the best in their future lives and careers.
Hats
Students will need to wear hats in Term 4. The preferred hat is our school hat that can be purchased at Dobsons, who is our uniform supplier or at the office. Students are able to wear other bucket hats, broad brimmed hats or legionnaires hats if you choose. My recommendation would be to have a couple of hats available in case your child loses their school hat. Please label school hats very clearly so that children do not accidentally pick up someone else’s or they can be returned if lost. Students who do not have a hat in Term 4 will be required to stay in the shaded areas beside our colourful buildings.
Mobile Phones and Smart Watches
It has come to my attention that some students are keeping mobile phones with them over the course of the day and not handing them to the office in the morning. There are also a number of students with Smart Watches who can communicate with home over the course of the day. It is a State Government directive that mobile phones and Smart Watches are not to be in classrooms and must be handed into the office if brought to school. If students need to contact home throughout the day they can ask their teacher or the office to make contact. Students caught with a mobile phone or Smart Watch will have it confiscated and it will only be returned to a parent who will need to come and pick it up. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
End of term and start of Term 4
School will end for the term on Friday 18th September at 2.30pm. We hope you have a wonderful break.
We return for Term 4 on Monday 5th October at 8.40am.
