Hello everyone,

As we approach the end of another wonderful term together, we want to take a moment to reflect on just how much our school community has achieved. From the energy and enthusiasm our students bring to the classroom every single day, to the tremendous support you as families provide at home.

This term has been packed with highlights, and there is still so much to look forward to before we close for the holidays.

Divisional Tee-ball -Our students will be taking on other schools at the divisional level. We wish our students the very best of luck and encourage families to come along and cheer them on!

House Spirit Day -Get ready to show your colours! House Spirit Day is always one of the most exciting days on the school calendar. Students are encouraged to dress in their house colours and bring their biggest voices to celebrate their teams with pride.

House Point Reward Day – All of that hard work and effort has been adding up! House Point Reward Day is our way of acknowledging and celebrating the dedication our students have shown throughout the term. Well done to every house for their outstanding efforts.

Talent Show (SRC Fundraiser)- Our Student Representative Council is thrilled to be hosting this term’s Talent Show as a fundraiser for our school community. Whether your child is performing or cheering from the audience, this is sure to be an unforgettable afternoon of entertainment. Keep an eye out for ticketing details and we encourage all families to come along and support our amazing SRC. This will start at the beginning of session 3 on Friday.

Student Reports – Reports will be sent home to all families on the last day of Term Two. These reports are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s growth and achievements, and to identify areas we can continue to nurture together. Please take the time to sit down with your child and celebrate how far they have come this term.

Looking ahead to next term, please make a note of these important dates:

Grade 5/6 Swimming — Week 2 of Term 3

Grade 3/4 Swimming — Week 3 of Term 3

Curriculum Day — Monday, 10th of August (no students required on this day)

Please ensure swimming gear is organised over the holidays, so your child is ready to dive in! We will share further details about swimming times and requirements at the start of next term.

To our wonderful students- you have worked so hard this term, and you deserve to enjoy a well-earned rest over the break. To our incredible families -thank you for your ongoing support, your kind words, and your partnership in your child’s education. It means the world to our staff.

Friday 26th June is the last day of Term 2. Students will finish school at 2:30 pm, with Assembly commencing at 2:15 pm.

Please ensure arrangements have been made for your child to be collected at 2:30 pm. If your child is not collected on time, they will be placed into After School Care and families will be charged any associated fees.

Students will return for Term 3 on Monday 13 July 2026.

PRIMARY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

If your child is sick or absent, you are required to notify school as soon as possible on the day of absence using one of the following methods:

1. Online: log the absence directly using Compass.
2. Telephone: the school office and let the staff know your child’s name, class, date of absences and reason.

Notifying the school of your child’s absence either prior to, or on the day that they will be away, helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and will fulfil your legal responsibility.

Why do I need to notify the school if my child is absent?

Schools need to know when and why a child is absent and you need to know if your child isn’t at school.

If your child is absent on a particular day and you have not contacted the school to explain why, the absence will be marked as unexplained.

This system also promotes daily school attendance. Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education, they learn new things every day – missing school puts them behind.

What is your responsibility?

You are legally required to ensure your child attends school every day or you must provide an explanation for their absence. You should let the school know in advance of any upcoming absences or let them know in the morning if your child won’t be at school. Avoid making routine medical and dental appointments during the school day or planning family holidays during the term.

Our attendance target is 96%.  Each week, we reward the class with the highest attendance (which includes getting to school on time!), with our school mascot, Ripwell in their classroom for the week.

Compass Pay is a tool that allows you to pay for incursions, excursions and camps online with a credit or debit card.

Our Learning in Prep

As we come to the end of Term 2, we are happy to share some of the learning that has taken place in our classroom. Students have worked hard, tried new things and developed their skills across many learning areas. We are proud of the progress they have made and hope you enjoy reading about some of the activities and experiences from this term.

LITERACY

In Daily Writing this term, students have been enjoying rocket writing, where we stretch the sounds, we hear in words to help us write sentences. We have been using picture prompts to inspire our creative sentence writing practice. In addition, we have been focusing on correct letter formation, sentence structure, and punctuation. 

In Literacy this term, students have been exploring information texts and learning about the features that make up non-fiction books. Through a range of engaging activities and shared reading experiences, students have explored information texts connected to topics that are meaningful to them, including their families, our school, and the wider community. They have enjoyed asking questions, sharing their knowledge, and developing their understanding of how information texts help us learn about the world around us.  

In UFLI this term, students have been mastering their letter sounds and have begun their reading journey. Daily, we practice decodable reading with CVC words and drawing detailed pictures to match what we read. We have also added many heart words to our repertoire. 

NUMERACY 

In Numeracy, students have explored data by collecting, sorting and comparing information in response to questions about familiar contexts. They have also investigated two-dimensional shapes by learning to identify, name, create and sort shapes based on their features.

Students have continued to develop their understanding of time by learning about the days of the week, months of the year and seasons. They have practised sequencing familiar events and making connections between everyday activities and different times of the day.  

INQUIRY 

In Inquiry this term, students have been exploring places and communities. We have explored what is a place and places that are important to us. Students enjoyed a walk to the local park to celebrate their understanding of places in our local community. 

WELLBEING

Over the last few weeks, the Prep students have been learning about the value of Integrity and exploring what it looks like in different settings across our school. Through class discussions, role-plays and everyday experiences, students have developed their understanding of how to be honest, responsible and respectful in their actions.

As part of the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) program, students have been learning to identify and understand a range of emotions. They have explored how emotions can look and feel different for each person and practised recognising emotions in themselves and others.

In Visible Wellbeing, students created a personal Strength Tree to celebrate the unique strengths they bring to our classroom community. They have also been learning to recognise strengths in others and have applied this understanding while working and playing cooperatively with their peers. It has been wonderful to see students using their strengths to build positive relationships and support one another.

AUSLAN

In Auslan this term, students have been introduced to our new whole-school Auslan program delivered through Auslan Education Services. Throughout the term, students have developed their understanding of Auslan by learning how to use their dominant hand to communicate a variety of signs. They have explored signs for greetings, the alphabet, colours, family members, farm animals, and common school-related vocabulary. Students have enjoyed building their confidence in using Auslan and developing their communication skills through engaging and interactive learning experiences.

Performing Arts

The Prep classes made these fantastic masks in Drama. Look how amazing they turned out!

STEM

Students have enjoyed a range of exciting hands-on STEM challenges throughout Term 2!

Prep students explored different types of pushes and pulls and investigated how these forces affect the way things move.

Year 1 students learned about simple machines and discovered how they make everyday tasks easier by changing the direction or size of a force.

Year 2 students put their problem-solving skills to the test by designing and building Rube Goldberg machines, creating chain reactions to complete simple tasks in complex and creative ways.

Year 3/4 students designed and built their own cardboard arcade games, applying their knowledge of forces, movement and design to create fun and interactive challenges.

Year 5/6 students investigated the power of the wind and explored how wind energy can be used to do work. They then designed and created their own wind-powered machines.

It has been fantastic to see students developing their creativity, critical thinking and engineering skills through these engaging STEM projects.

Art

Prep:

In Art, Prep students have been working with the art medium ‘collage’ and created shaggy paper dogs.

Grade 1:

In Art, Grade 1 students have been working with chalk pastels (conte),and created colourful abstract designs.

Grade 2:

In Art, Grade 2 students have been working with symmetry and collage, and created beautiful butterflies.

Grade 3/4:

In Art, grade 3/4 students have been exploring and blending oil pastels, inspired by artist Vincent Van Gogh.

Grade 5/6:

In Art, grade 5/6 students have been learning about Aboriginal Art styles and created artworks showing shape size and precision.
